As Indiana’s 94,000 farmers prepare for the spring planting season, motorists are being reminded to stay alert and safely share the road with slow-moving farm equipment. With warmer weather bringing more agricultural activity to rural roads and highways, state agencies are encouraging drivers to slow down and remain cautious around tractors, sprayers, and other wide farm vehicles that often travel under 25 mph. Officials note that farm equipment may appear to pull over but could actually be preparing to make a wide left turn. Motorists are advised not to pass unless it is clearly safe and legal to do so. Drivers should also avoid tailgating and allow plenty of time for their commute.
