The Odon Town Board reviewed several topics during its November meeting. Board President Susie Roach highlighted concerns within the volunteer fire department. Some members suggested that the town board select the fire chief instead of the current practice of voting by the 19-member force. Chief Steven Ford noted only five or six members respond to calls, and about eight attend meetings. Roach scheduled a special meeting for 7 p.m. on Monday, December 9, to address fire department issues. An INDOT representative provided updates on the West Street/Highway 58 intersection improvement project. The project includes enhancements from Park Street through the highway intersection. Engineers are addressing updates, with a bid deadline set for July 28. A public meeting to outline project details is expected next summer.
