Richard Gerald Overton

Richard Gerald Overton, 86, passed away on October 16, 2024. He was born December 5, 1937, in Elnora to Harold Garten and Junie Mary (Baker) Overton.

After moving to Washington from Edwardsport in 1951, Richard graduated from Washington High School as the class historian in 1956. He went on to graduate from the Vincennes University-Good Samaritan Hospital School of Radiologic Technology. He was employed by the Daviess Community Hospital for forty-one years, retiring as that facility’s first registered CT technologist.

Richard was a genealogy enthusiast and a member of several genealogy/historical societies. He was also a member of the Sons of the American Revolution.

Those who now cherish Richard’s memory include his nephews: Greg (Teresa) Overton of Taiwan; Josef R. Overton of Tampa, Florida; and Dean Overton of Seattle, Washington. He also leaves a niece-by-choice, Jeannie Eaton of Washington, and several cousins.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Junie Overton; his identical twin, Robert Harold Overton; sister, Virginia (Thomas) Corcoran and their three children; brother, Donald E. Overton; and brother, David L. Overton; and sisters-in-law, JoAnne Overton and Carolyn Overton.

Visitation for Richard Overton will be 11:00 am – 1:00 pm, Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at the Ed L. Lee Mortuary, 620 East Viola Avenue, Washington, Indiana.

Funeral services for Richard Overton will immediately follow the visitation on October 29, 2024, and begin at 1:00 pm, also at the Ed L. Lee Mortuary. Pastor Dan Sherar will officiate. Richard will be laid to rest in the Garten-Overton family plot in Walnut Hill Cemetery, Odon.
