Ray L. “Bud” Holstine, born on September 14, 1930 at home in Plainville, IN, passed away on June 18, 2024, at the age of 93 at Amber Manor Nursing Home in Petersburg, IN. He is the son of Alton and Mary (Wilson) Holstine.
He was a proud Epsom High School graduate and a veteran who served his country during the Korean Conflict in the US Army. He was also a member of Cornettsville United Methodist Church. Ray was a hardworking individual who dedicated his life to farming, raising hogs, cattle, and grain. He also worked at McCord Corporation, showcasing his strong work ethic. Even at the impressive age of 91, Ray continued to work tirelessly, finding joy in his labor till the end. Known for his generosity, Ray took pleasure in picking sweet corn and sharing it with others.
Survivors include his brother, Russell Holstine and his wife Janet of Elnora, IN; sister’s-in-law, Jill Holstine and Joan Holstine; as well as several nieces and nephews. Bud is preceded in death by his parents, Alton and Mary Holstine, his sister, Doris Andis, two brothers, Ralph and Leroy Holstine, and his brother-in-law, Gilbert Andis.
Friends may visit with Bud’s family from 12:00 pm until the hour of service time of 1:00 pm on Friday, June 21, 2024, at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 2020 State St., Washington, IN 47501. Bud will be laid to rest in Sugarland Memory Gardens where military rites will be conducted. The Holstine family has requested memorial contributions be made to the Daviess County Youth Livestock.
