James Wayne Risley, aged 61, of Washington, Indiana, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2024, in Odon, Indiana. Born on February 6, 1963, to Ruth Ann Nail Risley and the late James William Risley, he grew up to live a life marked by hard work, family devotion, and a love for the simplicity of the outdoors.
James, affectionately known by friends and family, carved his path in life as a dedicated truck driver. His hands were rarely still, as he found joy in the art of rebuilding cars and could often be found under the hood of a new project. Beyond his workbench, James was a lover of music, with the tunes of Alan Jackson featuring heavily in his everyday life.
One of James’ greatest loves was the great outdoors, where he spent countless hours tending to his yard, ensuring it was a place of beauty and tranquility. This passion for nature was only surpassed by his love for his family.
Left to honor James’ memory are his beloved children, Randy Morton, Christina Gordon, Alice Sexton, and Mellisa Risley. His legacy continues through his adoring grandchildren, Parker, Scarlett, Aidan, Selena, Makayla, Coltyn, River, CJ, Lindsey, and Izzy, who will miss his guiding hand and gentle presence. His siblings, Carol Risley, Rosetta Risley, and Robert Risley will also hold dear the memories of a brother whose life was a testament to love and perseverance.
James was preceded in death by his father, James William Risley. His departure has left a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his spirit and the lessons he imparted will live on. James Wayne Risley’s life was one well-lived, and well-loved.
