Jeffrey Michael Smith, aged 49, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 12, 2024, at Community Heart and Vascular Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. Born on November 13, 1974, in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, Jeff was the cherished son of David Smith and Mary Catherine O’Connor. On October 30, 2015, he joyously entered into marriage with his devoted wife, Dawn Marie (Grab) Smith.
Jeff’s journey was marked by dedication and achievement. A graduate of North Daviess High School, class of 1993, he excelled both on the court and the green as a valued member of the Tennis and Golf teams. His passion for the arts also flourished, with memorable performances in numerous high school musicals. Jeff pursued higher education, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Informatics & Computer Science from IUPUI, laying the foundation for a successful career in Information Technology, specializing in Automation and Robotics.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Jeff found joy in simple pleasures. From the thrill of a tennis match to the tranquility of a hike alongside his beloved Dawn, he embraced life’s moments with gratitude. As a member of a band, an accomplished guitarist, an ardent Pittsburgh Pirates fan, and a loyal follower of Hockey and Tennis, Jeff found solace and joy in his hobbies.
Left to honor Jeff’s memory are his loving wife, Dawn Smith; two devoted stepdaughters, Shelby Nelson and Melissa (Matthew) Boyan; his caring parents, Mary Catherine O’Connor and David (Beverly) Smith and his dear brother, Jason M. (Jessica) Smith.
Jeff was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dan and Agnes O’Connor, and Earl F Smith and Waughneta Smith.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life, commemorating Jeff’s remarkable journey, from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at the Odon Community Building. Tribute speeches will be at 3:00 PM.
