Martin County – Eligible homeowners in Martin County can now apply for grants to fund various home improvements, thanks to a grant received by the Southern Indiana Development Commission (SIDC) from USDA Rural Development. The grant aims to rehabilitate owner-occupied homes within Martin County. Eligible improvements include roofing, HVAC, electrical, accessible entryways, and water heaters. Low- and moderate-income homeowners residing in Martin County are encouraged to apply. However, properties located in a 100-year floodplain, contract sales, and single-wide trailers are not eligible. To qualify, homeowners must own and reside in the house. Assistance is income-based and dependent on household size. Interested homeowners can contact SIDC at (812) 295-3707 and speak with Jenny Dearwester, Housing Program Manager, to be placed on a waiting list for applications. Applicants will need to provide a copy of the recorded deed and 2024 social security and/or SSI income for a complete application.
