Pike County – On Wednesday morning, September 20, at around 8:51 a.m., Trooper Manning was conducting patrols on SR 64 near Meridian Road. During this time, he spotted the driver of a 1996 Ford Ranger traveling eastward at a speed of 94 mph. Trooper Manning initiated a traffic stop, but the driver, later identified as Henry DeWeese, 57, from Evansville, refused to comply. DeWeese continued eastward on SR 64 at a high rate of speed, then turned onto CR 550 South and proceeded north on CR 100 East. Ignoring the stop sign at CR 475 South, he continued westward toward Meridian Road. In an attempt to turn south onto Meridian Road, DeWeese collided with a guy wire connected to a utility pole, causing the vehicle to overturn. Henry DeWeese sustained minor injuries in the accident and was transported to Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville for treatment. After being treated and released, he was taken into custody without further incident and is currently detained at the Pike County Jail.
