Evansville Man Arrested After Fleeing from Trooper

An Evansville man was arrested on Friday evening after attempting to evade law enforcement. Trooper Widner, patrolling Read Street near Missouri Street in Evansville around 9:00 p.m., noticed a 2002 Honda motorcycle with red lights on the front of the bike. Trooper Widner attempted to initiate a traffic stop using emergency lights and a siren, but the rider refused to comply, accelerating at speeds exceeding 50 mph and disregarding multiple stop signs. The pursuit led to a dead-end road east of Evans Avenue, where the rider, identified as Patrick Pate, 57, of Evansville, attempted to turn around by riding through the grass but lost control and crashed. Pate’s passenger, Nova Collins, 19, of Evansville, was also taken into custody without further incident. Patrick Pate, 57, of Evansville, was arrested for resisting law enforcement and reckless driving. Nova Collins, 19, of Evansville, was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear. Pate is currently held without bond, while Collins is detained on a $250 bond.
