On September 2, the Indiana State Police Jasper Post received a request for assistance from the Asheville, North Carolina, Police Department regarding the apprehension of a male suspect wanted for a homicide in Asheville, North Carolina, earlier that day. The suspect’s vehicle was reported to be heading west on I-64 near the 115-mile marker. Local law enforcement agencies, including the Spencer County Sheriff’s Office, the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office, and the Ferdinand Police Department, collaborated with the Indiana State Police to locate the suspect’s vehicle. ISP Trooper Giesler soon spotted the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on I-64 near the 66-mile marker. After a thorough investigation, it was confirmed that the driver, Arturo Martinez-Cordero, 45, of North Carolina, was indeed the sought-after homicide suspect. Additionally, troopers suspected Martinez-Cordero of driving under the influence and possessing cocaine. Arturo Martinez-Cordero was taken into custody without any issues. He now faces multiple criminal charges, including: First-Degree Murder (1 Count), stemming from the Asheville, North Carolina, warrant.
