Veronica Antionette Kopp, 80, passed away at 9:53 pm on August 23, 2023 with her family at her side. Veronica was born on November 12, 1942, in Vincennes and she is the daughter of Henry and Laurastein (Grove) Nash. Veronica married the love of her life Richard Allen Kopp on February 24, 1964.
Veronica was a 1960 graduate of Vincennes Lincoln High School. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and attended St. John’s faithfully throughout her life. Veronica enjoyed her community engagements with church and the Altar Society alongside her roles in the Red Hat Society and her deep dedication to being a good friend. After building her career in journalism at the Vincennes Sun Commercial for 25 years; Veronica happily retired to build Scruples boutique on main street with her beloved daughter Laura. Laura and Veronica spent years traveling to markets, teaching Zachary (Laura’s son) how to build impressive window displays and ensuring that downtown was merry and bright during the Christmas season.
In recent years, Veronica treasured moments in her gardens during peony season and spending long days with her best (dog) friend, Naomi. Veronica’s brother Joe and her best friends Madge and Karen provided daily phone calls along with treasured companionship. She was an avid sewer, embroidered, and quilter. Besides home, she loved spending time in Florida and walking on the beach looking for seashells (a tradition her son Matthew and his family will keep for her).
Veronica made sure to keep Rich and her two grandsons Shane and Zachary busy with gardening, mowing the hill, and keeping her fishpond beautiful each year. She spent her life taking care of her family – holding their hearts together after the loss of Laura and her husband. Her commitment to friends, family, and community will live on through those she’s left behind.
Survivors include her husband Richard Kopp of Vincennes; son, Matthew Kopp and his wife Nuria of Dunedin, FL; her grandchildren, Zachary Nardine, Shane Nardine, Marc Kopp, Paul Kopp; brother, Jospeh Nash of Vincennes and her aunt Patricia Groves. Veronica is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Laurastein Nash, her daughter Laura Ann Nardine and her son-in-law, Christopher Nardine.
Friends may visit with Veronica’s family from 5-7 pm on Monday, August 28, 2023, at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 524 Broadway, Vincennes. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Veronica and her family on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at 11am, at St. John Catholic Church, 803 Main St., Vincennes, IN. with Rev. Tony Ernst celebrating.
