Governor Eric J. Holcomb, in partnership with (INDOT) and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, has announced a joint effort to secure $632.3 million in federal grant funding for the I-69 Ohio River Crossing project. If approved, both states plan to contribute $513.7 million from other funding sources. The I-69 Ohio River Crossing project is a $1.4 billion venture that seeks to extend I-69 from border to border in Indiana, connecting the state with Kentucky and beyond. As part of INDOT’s funding applications, the state also applied for grants to:
Reduce congestion and improve safety and mobility on I-64 in southeast Indiana through the Improve 64 project in Floyd County.
Enhance safety and efficiency for motorists on the Lloyd Expressway through the Lloyd4U project in Vanderburgh County. Awards for these projects are anticipated to be announced by early 2024.
