
A fatal crash involving a tow truck and a passenger car occurred on Wednesday afternoon in Mitchell, leaving one man dead and a woman injured. The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office received a report of the multi-vehicle accident on State Road 37 near Dixie Highway at approximately 3 p.m. The accident involved a tow truck towing another car and a passenger car. According to investigators, the driver of the Ford Focus failed to yield while leaving a car dealership on the east side of SR 37, causing the crash with the tow truck approaching the dealership’s exit at the same time. The driver of the Focus, identified as Timothy Mahuron, 66, of Seymour, was flown to the hospital but later succumbed to his injuries. His passenger, Krista Elbe, 48, was hospitalized for internal injuries. The driver of the tow truck was uninjured, but his passenger was treated for injuries.
