NHL Playoffs: Hurricanes, Maple Leafs, Panthers, Wild all win

The Carolina Hurricanes took a 2-0 lead in their Eastern Conference first-round series, after beating the New Jersey Devils 3-1 on Tuesday night in Raleigh, N.C. Jordan Martinook had a goal and an assist, with defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere and Seth Jarvis also scoring for the Hurricanes, and Fredrik Andresen stopping 25 shots. Game 3 of the best-of-seven series is Friday night in Newark, N.J.

The Toronto Maple Leafs beat the Ottawa Senators 3-2 in Game 2 of their playoff series on Tuesday to take a 2-0 series lead. Max Domi scored the OT winner to give the Maple Leafs the win. The Maple Leafs have a 2-0 series lead for the first time since 2002, with the series heading to Ottawa for Game 3 on Thursday at Canadian Tire Centre.

The Florida Panthers took a 6-2 win against the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference First Round at Amalie Arena on Tuesday. Matthew Tkachuk scored two power-play goals for the Panthers to cap off a three-goal second period, with Nate Schmidt scoring twice and Sam Reinhart and Sam Bennett each had a goal and an assist for the Panthers. Sergei Bobrovsky made 20 saves en route to victory. Game 2 will take place on Thursday at Amalie Arena.

The Minnesota Wild beat the Vegas Golden Knights 5-2, tying their Western Conference First Round playoff series at a game apiece. Kirill Kaprizov had two goals and an assist for the Wild in Game 2 at T-Mobile Arena on Tuesday, with Matt Boldy adding a goal and an assist, and Filip Gustavsson making 30 saves. Game 3 is Thursday night in St. Paul, Minnesota.
