Surrounded by his loved ones, Arthur “Mac” Petty, 81, passed away during the early morning hours of April 3, 2025. He was born in Washington on January 22, 1944, the son of Charles, Sr. and Melinda (Woodruff) Petty.
Mac was a 1964 graduate of Washington High School. Later, he served his country honorably in the United States Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He owned and operated his own trucking business and also farmed. Mac enjoyed gardening and looked forward to spring planting time. A generous and kind man, he had many friends and gathered with them regularly at McDonald’s for morning coffee and he always looked forward to having dinner with Jane. Mac was a devoted family man who loved spending time with his daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His love and support of his family and friends will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Those who now cherish Mac’s memory include his daughter, Joline Braswell of Washington; stepson, Jay (Sharon)Wise; special friend, Jane Hoevel of Washington; grandchildren: Tiffany (Jeremy) Brown, Sean Davis, Brian Davis, Lexie (Ethan McQueen) Land, Hunter (Erin) Land, and Kimberly (Alan) Knepp; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
During his lifetime, Mac grieved the loss of his parents Melinda and Charles Petty, Sr.; and his brother, Charles Petty, Jr.
Visitation for Arthur Mac Petty will be 11:00 am – 1:00 pm, Saturday, April 5, 2025, at the Ed L. Lee Mortuary, 620 East Viola Avenue, Washington, Indiana.
Funeral services for Arthur Mac Petty will immediately follow the visitation on Saturday, April 5, 2025, and begin at 1:00 pm, also at the Ed L. Lee Mortuary. Burial will be in the Sugarland Memory Gardens. The Washington American Legion and VFW will accord military honors at the gravesite.
