NWS Confirms EF-2 Tornado Traveled 47 Miles Across Southern Indiana

The National Weather Service has confirmed that a single EF-2 tornado tracked across eastern Gibson, Pike, and southern Daviess counties early Saturday morning, covering an extensive 47-mile path. The storm produced peak winds of 120 mph, caused significant damage. The tornado first touched down just east of Haubstadt in Gibson County before moving northeast through Oakland City. It then continued into rural Pike County, passing near Algiers, before crossing the East Fork White River into Daviess County. Along its path, the storm damaged power poles, homes, and outbuildings. Additionally, the NWS confirmed another EF-1 tornado in Daviess County, with winds reaching 110 mph. This tornado traveled over 13 miles, destroying grain bins and causing damage near Loogootee. The NWS initially investigated whether multiple tornadoes touched down in the region but has since confirmed that the damage across Gibson, Pike, and Daviess counties resulted from one long-track EF-2 tornado.
