Carl J. Grannan, 81, passed away at his residence on at 9:49 pm on March 10, 2025. Carl was born on March 14, 1943 in Washington, IN the son of Carl H. and Ruth L. (Rosenberry) Grannan. He married Gloria Palmer on February 23, 1962 and she survives.
Carl retired from the Naval Surface Warfare Center in the Defense Department after many years of dedicated service. Following retirement, he enjoyed working at Craney’s Body Shop for several years. He was a faithful member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church and was also a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 630 where he was very active. Carl had many interests, but above all, he loved fishing and was very active in the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society a local fishing club.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria Grannan of Washington; his daughters, Kim Larkin and her husband Tony of Washington, Kelly Buckley of Indianapolis, Allyson Hoover and her husband Matt of Winter Garden, FL; his sister, Betty Ruth Jeffers and her husband Greg of Terre Haute, IN; grandchildren, Cody Buckley and his wife Lauren, Morgan Buckley, Beth Larkin, Leanna Larkin, Margaret Larkin, Annie Buckley, Claire Jackson, Harper Jackson; and his great grandchildren, Hugh and Eddie Buckley. Carl is preceded in death by his parents, Carl H. and Ruth L. Grannan and his niece Carly Zurcher.
Friends may visit with Carl’s family from 9 am until noon on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, 315 NE 3rd St., Washington, IN 47501. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at noon celebrated by Rev. Paul Ferguson and Yvonne Evans. Carl will be laid to rest in St. John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the Grannan family has requested memorial contributions be to the Washington Catholic Education Endowment Fund, P.O. Box 916, Washington, IN 47501 or Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church.
