Judith Ann Froeschke

Judith Ann Froeschke, beloved mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at The Villages At Oakridge in Washington, IN on March 4, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on September 9, 1941, in Vincennes, Indiana, Judy is the daughter of Clifford and Josephine (Irr) Cantwell. She married Frederick Froeschke on October 15, 1961 and he preceded her in death on April 11,2018 after being married for fifty-six years.

Judy was a 1959 graduate of Monroe City High School and attended Vincennes University from 1959-1960. She also attended Purdue Continuing Education Farm Tax School for seven years and attended Vincennes University Continuing Education classes in interior decorating, investment and finance and management training, as well as H and R Block Tax Training for ten thirteen week sessions.

Judy’s unwavering commitment to her church community at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church shone through in her active involvement with the Ladies Group, where she held various offices over the years. She had been President of Ladies Guild, sang in the choir, was on the Fall Soup committee as well as the Community Ladies Tea.

Professionally, Judy worked at H&R Block for twenty-two tax seasons seventeen of which were working as a supervisor, Hills Department Store as a salesperson and drapery consultant, Ayrway Department Store in Indianapolis as a cashier, Singer Sewing Machine as a bookkeeper and Saiter-Morgan Appliance as a secretary, bookkeeper and ordering clerk. Judy also owned and operated Froeschke’s Produce Market for several years.

In Judy’s spare time she enjoyed shopping and playing cards with her friends, she especially liked playing mahjong. Judy also loved planting flowers and enjoyed going to Kenny Rogers and Alan Jackson concerts. She was also very proud of her 4-H Grand Champion award. Judy also loved her pets very much, the latest being her dogs Winston and Lady.

Judy leaves behind a loving family, including her daughter Jamie Steimel of Vincennes; her son David Froeschke of Princeton, IN, sisters Janet Neff of Florida, Karen Miller and her husband Jim of New Mexico, Sara Bilskie and her husband Larry of Vincennes, and her brother Charlie Cantwell and his wife Cheryl of Vincennes. Judy is also survived by her grandchildren, Brittany Froeschke, Tara Roe and her husband Chris, Leah Anthis and her husband Jason, Michael Steimel, Bryan Steimel, Heather Lehman; her great grandchildren, Cadence, Aubrey, Brylee, Emaline, Owyn, Layton, Lyric, Ensleigh, Kyla, Lauryn and Max. As well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Judy is preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Josephine Cantwell, husband, Fred Froeschke and her son-in-law, Jay Steimel.

In honor of Judy’s life and legacy, funeral services will be held at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 6990 S. Decker Road, Vincennes, IN 47591 on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at 12:00 pm. Friends may visit with Judy’s family from 10:00 am until the hour of service time of 12:00 pm. Pastor Nathan Rastl will officiate and Judy will be laid to rest next to her husband Fred in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery. The Froeschke family has requested memorial contributions be made in Judy’s name to the Vincennes Pet Port, 1128 River Road, Vincennes, IN 47591.
