The Loogootee City Council met earlier this week to address several key municipal issues, including approving claims, opening bids for infrastructure projects, and discussing salary adjustments.
Bids for Community Crossroads Project
Five bids were submitted for the next phase of the Community Crossroads project, ranging from $672,942.36 to $827,728. The council agreed to award the contract based on recommendations from Midwest Engineers, ensuring it meets the March 7 deadline.
Salary & Wage Adjustments
Modifications to the salary ordinance were discussed, particularly concerning internship programs for water and wastewater certification. Council members debated clarifications on police uniform allowances and salary increments for apprentices under the Indiana Rural Water apprenticeship program. A resolution will be finalized at the next meeting.
Old Barn Removal Approved
The council approved a $1,000 expenditure to hire Jim Matthews for demolishing an old barn on North Street, citing limited city resources for handling the project in-house. No further business was discussed, and the meeting adjourned.
