Mayor Dave Rhodes provided a community update on upcoming city meetings, ongoing construction projects, and plans for the year ahead. The Washington City Council will meet on February 10th and 24th at 6:30 p.m., while the Planning Commission, Park Board, and Board of Zoning Appeals have meetings scheduled throughout the month. City offices will be closed on February 17th for Presidents Day, but trash pickup will continue as usual.

Business 50 construction is progressing, with the final phase nearing completion. While sidewalk work is pending due to weather, the roadway is expected to fully open up to SR 257 soon. Work on the next phase, which involves water infrastructure improvements, is also nearing completion and will help expedite the overall project. Unlike the earlier phase, at least one lane will remain open in each direction during the upcoming roadwork, ensuring access to local businesses. Mayor Rhodes emphasized that businesses and restaurants along the affected area remain open. Utility work will be conducted without road cuts, allowing traffic to continue flowing smoothly. Mayor Rhodes encouraged residents to reach out directly with any concerns or questions.
