A Vincennes man has been sentenced for his role in a fatal crash that claimed the life of a passenger in May 2023. Keeton Walker, 21, pleaded guilty in October to reckless homicide after a high-speed crash on Monroe School Road near Monroe City resulted in the death of 20-year-old Dalton Kirby, also of Vincennes. Kirby was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. During Friday’s sentencing, Prosecutor Dirk Carnahan and members of Kirby’s family presented testimony. Family members asked Judge Lee for leniency in sentencing Walker. Judge Lee sentenced Walker to five years in jail, suspending all but 30 days, which he will serve in the Knox County Jail before beginning probation. Walker was taken into custody Friday afternoon to start his sentence.
