Alice L. Schwartz, a cherished sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on December
27, 2024, in Washington, IN, at the age of 69. She was born on December 4, 1955, in
Vincennes, IN, to the late Arthur Loren Schwartz and Clara Belle “Nickelson” Schwartz and was
a shining light in the lives of all who knew her.
Alice was a proud graduate of North Knox High School’s Class of 1974. Her love for helping
others led her to pursue an Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Vincennes University, where
she later also achieved an Associate’s Degree in Graphic Arts. Throughout her lifetime, Alice
dedicated herself to a career of service and creativity. She worked as a registered nurse at
Freelandville Community Hospital and the Bicknell Nursing Center, leaving a lasting impact on
her patients and colleagues with her kindness and empathy. Additionally, her artistic talents
flourished during her time as a graphic artist, including her work for the Washington Times
Herald, where she combined her technical skill with a flair for design.
Those who knew Alice will remember her for her creativity, friendliness, and exceptional
kindness. She had a passion for the whimsical dance of hummingbirds, the iconic music of
Elton John, and the universal language of melodies that brought joy into her daily life. She had
a way of making everyone around her feel immediately at ease, always contributing a sense of
warmth to her community and gatherings.
Alice is lovingly remembered by her siblings Kurtis Schwartz (Lori) and Dianna Schwartz-Evans;
nephew Tony Evans (Verda); niece Alicen Williams (Brett); and her adored great-nieces and
nephews, Becca Evans, Declan Williams, and Bailee and Charlotte Williams.
Her passing leaves a void in the hearts of her family and the many friends she made throughout
her meaningful life. Alice will be dearly missed, but her legacy of compassion, artistry, and
friendship will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to have known her.
