William T. Wood II, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2024, at the age of 84. He is survived by his devoted wife, Donna Wood, whose unwavering love and support accompanied him throughout their cherished life together.
Tom, as he was affectionately known, was a man of many passions. He found profound joy in camping and fishing at Prides Creek, where memories of laughter and adventure were woven into the fabric of family gatherings. A proud automotive engineer, Tom dedicated his professional life to the automobile industry, leaving behind a legacy of excellence and innovation.
His playful spirit and infectious sense of humor brought joy to those around him. Among friends and family, he was renowned for his ability to deliver a joke that could brighten anyone’s day. Tom’s warmth extended to his role as a Boy Scout leader, where he took great pride in teaching boys the skills of leadership and the joys of the great outdoors. He also delighted in dressing as Santa and brought joy to all those he met.
Tom’s love for his grandchildren knew no bounds. He delighted in providing them with toys, creating a family-friendly haven by putting in a pool for endless summer fun. His kitchen was a treasure trove of delicious delights, with his special pancakes, bacon, and famous peanut butter fudge becoming staples of family gatherings.
Surviving Tom is his wife, Donna Wood; children, Gregg Wood (Paula), Sheri Tuttle (Tim ), Mike Wood (Denise), Brad Wood, Greg Decoursey (Billie), and Julie Kays (Sherman); 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Preceding Tom is death are his parents, William and Marguerite Wood; and sisters, Joyce Eisle and Judy Wilson.
To honor his memory, visitation will take place at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home in Vincennes on December 28, 2024, at 10:00 AM until the service time of 12:00 PM. He will be laid to rest in at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Petersburg.
In the hearts of those who knew him, Tom will always be remembered for his kindness, his laughter, and the immense love he held for his family. His legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched.
