On December 11, at approximately 2:54 PM, Daviess County Central Dispatch responded to a report of a man bleeding from the head at a residence on Hillcrest Avenue. Officers arrived to find 47-year-old Daniel Meinhart with multiple stab wounds to his head and neck. Following an investigation by a Washington Police Department detective, 22-year-old Kyle Hovis was arrested and charged with Aggravated Battery, Domestic Battery Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury, and Battery Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury. The incident was handled with the assistance of WPD Patrol and Crime Scene Investigation teams, the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, Washington City Fire, Central Dispatch, and Daviess Community Hospital EMS.
