Spencer County Man Critically Injured in Bar Shooting; Suspect Arrested

A dispute at The Chateau bar in Mariah Hill early Saturday morning ended in gunfire, leaving one man critically injured and another in custody. At around 3:21 a.m. on November 23, police responded to reports of a shooting. According to Indiana State Police, Paris D. Keaton, 28, of Dale, and Rafael Barboza, 32, also of Dale, were involved in a verbal argument inside the bar that escalated into a physical altercation outside. During the confrontation, Keaton allegedly shot Barboza and then re-entered the bar, pointing a firearm at two other men before officers arrived. Barboza was transported to Owensboro Regional Health Hospital in Kentucky, where he remains in critical condition. Keaton was arrested at the scene and is being held in the Spencer County Jail on multiple charges, including Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon (Level 3 Felony), Pointing a Firearm (Level 6 Felony), Criminal Recklessness (Level 6 Felony), and Driving While Suspended (Class A Misdemeanor).
