Vickie Sue Hayes, 80, of Odon, Indiana, went to Heaven with loving family by her side, on October 22, 2024 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes. She was born on January 7, 1944 in Odon to John R. and Mary M. (Farren) Parsons. Vickie married the love of her life, Robert ‘Danny’ Hayes, Jr. on December 22, 1963.
Vickie was a member of the Odon United Methodist Church. She loved her church and serving there as a hostess, church board member and treasurer of the Crusaders Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter #341, where she served as Worthy Matron, and the Odon Independent Social Club. Vickie worked for many years at the Odon Journal and Odon License Branch. She enjoyed being with her family, riding motorcycles with Danny and friends.
Family left to cherish the memories of Vickie include: one son, Tracey (Debbie) Hayes of Loogootee; one daughter, Robin Knepp of Odon; four grandchildren, Adara (Ryan) Batchelor of Montgomery, Taylor (Dylan) Wilcher of Montgomery, Talan Hayes of Loogootee and Oaklee Harder of Loogootee; three great-grandchildren, Aryah and Ryder Batchelor and Hayes Wilcher; two brothers, Ron (Becky) Parsons of Odon and Rick (Sheila) Parsons of Jeffersonville.
Vickie was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Danny Hayes and infant brother, John Delbert Parsons.
Funeral services to honor the life of Vickie will be at 2:00 PM on Sunday, October 27, 2024 at Meng Family Funeral Home in Odon with Wayne Davis and Rick Parsons officiating. Vickie will be laid to rest in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Odon.
Family and friends may call from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 2:00 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.
