On October 22, at around 10:07 p.m., 78-year-old Dallas Cooper of Oakland City brought a 47-year-old gunshot victim to Deaconess Gibson Emergency Room. The victim had injuries to the mouth, cheek, and arm following a single gunshot during a domestic altercation. After initial treatment at Deaconess Gibson, the victim was transferred to a nearby hospital for further care of the non-life-threatening injuries. Gibson County Sheriff’s detectives took Cooper into custody on an aggravated battery charge and transported him to Gibson County Jail. Authorities later conducted a detailed investigation at a residence on South State Road 57, near Oakland City. This investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may follow.
