On “Focus on the Community” this weekend on WAMW, we will talk to Misty English, who highlighted the urgent need for volunteers with the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program in Daviess County. Currently, CASA has 15 active volunteers, but many are on leave, leaving a gap that needs to be filled. CASA advocates for children involved in the child services system, ensuring their best interests are represented in court. Volunteers dedicate about five hours a month to visiting children and gathering information for case reports. The program aims for family reunification and offers support to some of the county’s most vulnerable youth. Misty encouraged anyone interested in making a difference to contact her at the CASA office or via email. With 39 cases involving 81 children, the demand for support is greater than ever. For more information or to volunteer, reach out at 812-254-8652 or misty.english@davies.org.
