The Board of Public Works and Safety met after the Washington City Council meeting yesterday. The Board gave approval to close Main Street at 4 p.m. on November 10 for the annual Veterans Day Parade. Event organizer Linda Cornelius said there will be a Veterans Day program at the County Museum at 2 p.m. on Nov. 10. The parade will organize at the library and march east on Main Street, then turn north on NE Seventh and end at Washington High School. The Board also approved funds for Senior Citizens, YMCA, Connections, Little League, the Soccer Federation, and Power House and approved two sidewalk projects. In other business, the board heard from Scott Siple of Midwestern Engineers. Siple told the board that the wastewater project is now complete and presented the final billing for the project. The city will now start looking at the sewer lines and wastewater needs on the east side of Washington as the city continues to expand toward I-69.
