Emily L. Ellerman, a cherished matriarch and beacon of warmth in her community, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2024, at the age of 93 in Bicknell, Indiana at her home. Born on January 30, 1931, in Bruceville, Indiana, Emily was the loving daughter of the late Helen Hagen Faith and Charles Faith Sr. Her life was a testament to the power of love, family, and service, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Emily’s journey through life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her family. She is survived by her devoted children, Linda LeGrand (Jim) and Aaron Messer (Vanessa), and her caring daughter-in-laws, Kelly Messer and Sue Roark. Her legacy continues through her step-son, Brad Ellerman (Tammy), and stepdaughter-in-law, Gina Ellerman. Emily’s siblings, Deloris Bolenbaugh, Joyce Meredith, Karen Roark (Jim), Brenda Smith (Steve), Gayle Patel (Ritchie), Darrell Faith (Cookie), Lonnie Faith, and sister-in-law, Cindy Faith, will hold her memory close to their hearts. Her life was further enriched by the joy of her grandchildren, Pennye Johnson (Owen), Michelle Willis, Sam Erwin, Pasha Roark (Heather), Courtney Messer, Tyler Messer (Kelsey), Megan Messer, and Lindsey Messer (Kaleb Smith), and many great and great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who all experienced her love and guidance.

Emily was reunited in death with her beloved husband, Christian Ellerman, and her children, Norman Roark, James Messer, and step-son, Mark Ellerman. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Geraldine Strange, Stanley Faith, James Faith, Charles Faith, Doug Faith, Duane Faith, and Larry Faith, and brother-in-law, Phillip Bolenbaugh, who welcomed her with open arms.

Throughout her life, Emily was known for her compassionate spirit and her dedication to helping others. She spent many years providing comfort and care as a home healthcare worker, touching the lives of countless individuals and their families with her kindness and empathy. Her work was not just a job but a calling, and she left an indelible mark on the community she served.

In addition to her many cherished relationships, she found immense love and companionship in her faithful dog, Mollie, who brought her joy and comfort. Their bond reflected the warmth and compassion she shared with all living beings.

Emily’s interests were a reflection of her love for life and nature. She found solace and joy in the simple pleasures of reading and tending to her flower beds, where she cultivated beauty and tranquility. Her gardens were a vibrant tapestry of colors and fragrances that brought delight to all who had the pleasure of experiencing them.

A faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Bicknell, Emily’s commitment to her faith was evident in her actions and her unwavering support of her church community. Her presence was a source of strength and inspiration, and her faith guided her through the many seasons of her life.

Emily’s life was a beautiful mosaic of love, service, and faith. Her gentle spirit and generous heart left a lasting impact on everyone she met. As we bid farewell to this extraordinary woman, we celebrate the remarkable legacy she leaves behind. Her life was a gift to us all, and her memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who loved her.
