Norma Jean Ziegler, 88, of Loogootee, Indiana passed away on Friday, September 13, 2024, at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare in Jasper, Indiana with her family by her side.
She was born on May 19, 1936, in Loogootee, Indiana to Simon and Irene (Mauder) Brown.
Norma was a member of Truelove Methodist Church. She married Hinzie Ziegler and he preceded her in death in 2008. In Norma’s younger years she worked at a wood factory, chicken house for Vernon Matheis, and at Good Samaritan. She was a 4-H leader for over 40 years. Norma liked flowers, gardening, watching her kids, grandkids, great grandkids in 4-H and sports, and she babysit for many children in Rutherford Township. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Hinzie Ziegler, her parents, Simon and Irene Brown, her siblings, Vernelta Lingenfelter, Wilma Collins, Charles “Clyde” Brown, Minnie Brown, Edward Brown, infant twin siblings, and her son-in-law, David Lagenour. She was the last of her siblings.
Norma is survived by her children, Kathy (Richard) Lingenfelter of Loogootee, Kenneth (Lynn) Ziegler of Loogootee, Deborah Lagenour of Jasper, Darlene (Leon) Goepfrich of Jasper, Jill Ziegler of Loogootee, Jason (Tammy) Ziegler of Loogootee, Amy Raney of Washington, 20 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and another due in January, and many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday September 17, 2024, at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Monday September 16, 2024, from 4:00 P.M until 8:00 P.M at Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee, Indiana and again on Tuesday morning at Truelove Methodist Church from 9:00 A.M until the time of service.
