A Sullivan County man was arrested after fleeing from a conservation officer while illegally harvesting ginseng on state forest property. Indiana Conservation Officer Dustin Cary encountered the man, who threw his digging tool and ran toward a lake, tossing his backpack into the water. A black case containing a glass smoking device was found on the shore. The man jumped into the lake but was apprehended by Officer Cary. He was taken to the Sullivan County Jail and faces multiple charges, including possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia, obstruction of justice, and resisting arrest. His name has not yet been released.
