Vincennes Police Investigate Two Separate Shooting Incidents, One Suspect Arrested for Murder

Vincennes Police have been busy this week working on two separate shooting incidents that occurred in the city.

On Monday afternoon, around 5:35 p.m., the Vincennes Police Department responded to Autumn Ridge Lane. and Emison St. in reference to a shooting involving a blue Mazda that had fled the area and was en route to Good Samaritan Hospital. It was later learned that one adult male was shot in the head while seated in the blue Mazda, and the suspects fled the area in a different vehicle. Police say this is an active investigation, with one person of interest still at large. If anyone has any information, they are urged to contact the Vincennes Police Department.

In a separate incident, just after midnight yesterday, the Vincennes Police Department responded to 1310 N 14th St. in reference to a person being shot. Dispatch advised that the person was shot by Calvin Wittmer and that he had fled the residence, but his whereabouts were currently unknown. A short time later, officers learned Calvin Wittmer was at 1603 Canbro St. Officers from the Vincennes Police Department responded to 1603 Canbro St. and surrounded the house until Calvin surrendered to police without further incident. Calvin was arrested for murder, a level 1 felony, and transported to the Knox County Jail. The name of the victim has not officially been released at this time.
