The Dubois County 4-H Council has decided to close all rides for the remainder of the fair week after an incident resulted in the injury of a juvenile. According to the Dubois County Free Press, the child fell from a ride while it was operating and was taken to the emergency room. The Indiana Department of Homeland Security (IDHS) conducted an inspection of the ride and found several violations. The ride was ordered to close and cannot operate until repairs are made and it passes a compliance inspection. It was also noted that the ride operator on the night of the incident failed to ensure that riders were properly restrained before the ride started. The Dubois County 4-H Council issued a statement on Facebook, explaining their decision to remove the rides and encouraging attendees to participate in other fair activities.
