The Indiana Destination Development Corporation (IDDC) has released the results of a statewide economic impact study, highlighting the economic benefits of the 2024 Total Solar Eclipse on Indiana’s economy. Conducted by Rockport Analytics, the study reveals substantial economic gains from the eclipse, which occurred on April 8.

Economic Impact:

The total economic impact of the eclipse is approximately $148.5 million.

Taxes generated by visitors totaled $45 million during the eclipse period. Federal Taxes: $18.4 million State Taxes: $14.4 million Local taxes: $12.2 million

Visitor Numbers:

Indiana welcomed over 3.5 million visitors for the eclipse, marking a 45% boost in visitor volume and a 41.1% increase in visitor spending.

Lodging: $45 million; Food & Beverage: $63.8 million; Recreation & Entertainment: $65 million; Transportation: $9.7 million; Retail: $5.4 million
