Governor Eric Holcomb, along with Indiana State Fire Marshall Steve Jones, joined local firefighters in Wabash yesterday to announce phase two of the state’s new Hub and Spoke Training Centers. Washington was selected as one of five sites in this phase to house the new training hub for firefighters. The new hub will be behind the Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department on County Road 150 South. The state is investing $7.7 million in the new training sites to provide high-quality physical training structures within 30 miles or 45 minutes of all career and volunteer departments. The site in Washington will be locally owned and maintained, but the state will be constructing the facility and helping with preparation. Chrisney, Hartford City, Rushville, and Paoli were the other four sites selected for phase two.
