Geraldine M. Read, 83, of Vincennes, IN passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on June 17, 2024. She was born on June 19, 1940, to the late Daniel C. and Bernice W. (Phillips) Hardig. Geraldine married the love of her life, William “Bill” Read Sr., on September 10, 1960. They were blessed with a son, William Read Jr. Geraldine worked as a homemaker and a nanny caring for children. She was a devout catholic and member of the St. John’s Catholic Church.
In her free time she enjoyed being a member of the Alter Society and Red Hatters Club. She also enjoyed crocheting, shopping, vegetable gardening, bargain hunting, and praying devotionals. Geraldine will be deeply missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents Daniel and Bernice Hardig; siblings Donald Hardig, Richard Hardig, Marion Hardig, Roseanna Wyatt; brothers-in-law Wilbur Brault and Robert Duncan.
Geraldine is survived by her husband William Read Sr.; son Bill Read; siblings Mary Brault, Loretta Duncan, Thrasilla (Walter) Hornig; and several nieces and nephews.
Goodwin-Sievers is honored to be entrusted with the care of Mrs. Read. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John’s Catholic Church on Friday, June 21, 2024, at 1 pm with visitation prior begining at 11 am.Burial will follow at Stringtown Cemetery in Olney, IL following immediately.
