Robert Lawrence Heymann passed away Sunday, April 21st in Davenport Florida. He was born on August 17th, 1935 in Staten Island, NY. He went to high school and college in Maryland and attended med school at the University of Maryland and finished his medical training and residency in the Army, where he served as a surgeon in Vietnam. He then practiced at the VA hospital in Denver, CO before coming to Washington, Indiana in the mid 1970’s. Dr. Heymann practiced in Washington until his retirement on October 1, 2000. While in Washington, he touched many lives with his skills and knowledge.
He married Toni Smith Kelso on January 24, 1985 and she survives. Together they have lived in Florida since retirement in 2000. He is also survived by his children Mike (Carolyn) Heymann, Theresa (Andy) Poligo, Debbie and Karen Heymann, step-daughters Tami Santiago and Andrea (Allen) Brown, and daughter-in-law Sandy Heymann. Also grandchildren, Clayton and Andrea Heymann, Max, Meghan and Jake Heymann, Kiersten and Tyson Goodwin, Madison Santiago, Brooks and Julian Brown, and 5 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by both of his parents and one son, Phil Heymann.
A celebration of life is being planned at a future date in Washington. In lieu of flowers, if you wish to make a donation in Bob’s name, please do so to the Daviess Community Hospital Auxiliary.
