Rickie Joe Griffith, 72, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of March 31, 2024, after battling cancer for the last several months. He was born in Monticello, Iowa, on May 22, 1951, to Richard and Joanne (Schmidt) Griffith. On May 21, 1994, he married Julia (Miles) Griffith and she survives.

Rickie was a high school graduate who later attended trade school. He was a man of many talents and was often referred to as “the guy who could fix anything.” He was a maintenance man for area group homes, and more recently, he owned and operated Hawkeyes Home Inspections. He played the guitar and loved woodworking, especially crafting furniture.

Those who now mourn Rickie’s passing include his wife, Julia (Miles) Griffith; children: Amanda S. Walls; William J. “Bill” (Amy) Griffith; and Douglas L. (Kristina) Griffith all of Washington. He also leaves four stepchildren: Jim (Lisa) Miles, Joe Miles, Debbie Miles, and Greg Miles; five grandchildren: Tyler Walls, Brooke Walls; Alex Griffith; Reagan Griffith; and Ryleigh Griffith; as well as three great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Additionally Rickie leaves two sisters: Susan Griffith of Glasgow, Kentucky and Bonnie (Ken) Brown of Indianapolis.

Rickie was preceded in death by his parents, Joanne and Richard Griffith; sister, Patty Kemis; sister, Kathy Cox; brother, Danny Griffith; brother, Timothy Griffith; two stepsons: Doug Miles and Charles Paul Miles, who died in infancy; and a brother-in-law.

A graveside service for Rickie Joe Griffith is being planned for a later date and will be held in the St. John Cemetery, Washington.
