In response to a 911 call on Saturday night, February 3rd, Perry County Sheriff’s Office and Tell City Police Department rushed to the scene where a female reported her boyfriend had been shot.
Officers found Aaron Waninger unresponsive, and despite their efforts, lifesaving measures were unsuccessful.
Indiana State Police joined the investigation, leading to the arrest of Tonya Coomer.
Detectives determined she was responsible for the shooting.
Coomer is now in custody at the Perry County jail, facing charges of Murder (Level 1 Felony) and Criminal Recklessness with a Firearm (Level 5 Felony).
An autopsy for Waninger will be scheduled, and the case remains under investigation.
