The House Commerce Committee at the Indiana Statehouse gave its approval to a bill safeguarding lemonade stands on Tuesday. Representative Blake Johnson led the initiative, highlighting how these stands serve as a foundational introduction to business for children. Under the current Indiana code, lemonade stands are considered illegal. Johnson’s bill aims to prohibit counties, cities, and homeowner associations from interfering with or regulating these stands. However, certain conditions apply—each stand can operate for a maximum of two consecutive days and a total of eight days per month. The bill, with a vote of 11-0, is now set to advance to the full House.
