Daviess County Commissioners have issued an Emergency Declaration Burn Ban. The ban is in effect until further notice. This ban applies to all of Daviess County. The Burn Ban prohibits open burning of any kind. Campfires are allowed if they are contained in a burn ring or fire pit ten inches or higher. Cooking grills are allowed, and if using charcoal, the charcoal briquettes must be thoroughly extinguished. Burn barrels must have a screen on top with a mesh of a quarter inch or less opening. Burn barrels are to be used between dawn and dusk only. No burning of any type on breezy days. This ban was issued due to the dry conditions of the current drought. Numerous fires were handled by all of the county fire departments from Friday to Sunday, prompting the request for the ban.
