Claude B. Spradling, 86, passed away surrounded by his loving family at 10:56 am on November 9, 2023, at Bridge Pointe Health Campus. Claude was born on October 11, 1937, in Poplar Bluff, MO and he is the son of Claude B. Sr. and Beatrice (Jones) Spradling. Claude married Rosa Thais on August 31, 1963, and she preceded him in death on March 21, 1995. He then married Judy Roach on September 19, 2007, and she survives.
Claude was a 1956 graduate of Vincennes Lincoln High School. After graduation he served his country in the United States Army and worked as an aviation mechanic at Vincennes University for over fifty years until his retirement. He had many passions in life, especially his love of old cars and his El Caminos. He also enjoyed riding his unicycle and had a love for his dogs and kids. Claude also took great pride in restoring and painting multiple cars and airplanes.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Spradling of Vincennes; his children, Brian Spradling and his wife Anne Pratt, Kent Spradling, Cheryl Hacker and her husband Kevin all of Vincennes; step-daughter, Tonya Hettenbach and her husband Brent of Chandler, IN; sister, Sue Hassen of Maumee, OH; his grandchildren, Sydney Spradling, Audrey Spradling, Logan Hacker, step grandchildren, Brennan Pratt, Julia Klock and her husband Trey, Alec Pratt, Kevin Pratt, Hannah and Keegan Wineinger; one step great grandchild; as well as numerous brother and sister in laws and nieces and nephews. Claude is preceded in death by his parents, Claude B. Sr. and Beatrice Spradling, his first wife Rosa (Thais) Spradling, brother, Arthur Spradling, sister, Shirley Horrall, stepson J.R. Sutton and several brother and sister in laws.
Private family services will be held for Claude, and he will be laid to rest in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery. A Celebration of Life Service for Claude will be held from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm EST on November 25, 2023, at the Hangar BAR, 20272 State Route 33 East, Lawrenceville, IL 62439 (Across the Memorial Bridge from Vincennes) The Spradling family has requested memorial contributions be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Vincennes Animal Shelter.
