Parkview Junior High School in Lawrenceville, Illinois, will be closed until Wednesday due to the identification of asbestos. The closure comes after a new boiler installation, intended to provide heating for the rest of the year, led to the discovery of asbestos in the boiler room. Superintendent Doug Daugherty explained that the asbestos removal is essential to complying with Illinois state guidelines. A professional asbestos removal company was engaged over the weekend to ensure proper removal procedures. Lawrenceville High School and Parkside Elementary School remain open, unaffected by the asbestos finding. The current plan is to reopen Parkview Junior High on Thursday, November 16th, pending approval from the Illinois State Health Department.
