Richard “Rich” Craney, 59, of Jasper, sadly passed away on August 31, 2023. He had been recovering from a heart attack that occurred early this past spring.
Rich was born to J. Howard and Martha Craney on October 18, 1963. He was the youngest of their six children. Rich was a graduate of Barr-Reeve High School and the Oakland City Vocational Program. Rich held various jobs in farming and factories in Jasper.
Rich loved to play cards, watch sports, and talk with others. He was a fun-loving and thoughtful individual.
Rich is survived by his sisters: Marietta (Joy Carter) Craney, Marsha Craney, Janet (John) Toy, and one brother, Joseph (Carolyn) Craney; two nieces, Sarah (Doug) Ding and Katie (Nick) Robbins; and two nephews, Cameron Craney and Conner (Morgan) Craney.
Rich was preceded in death by his parents, J. Howard and Martha (Arvin) Craney, and a sister, Joyce Craney, and two siblings, Pamela and James, who died at birth.

Visitation for Richard Craney will be 4:00-7:00 pm, Friday, September 8, 2023, at the All Saints Catholic Church in Cannelburg.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Richard Craney will be celebrated by the Father Sudhakar Bhastati at 10:00 am, Saturday, September 9, 2023, at the All Saints Catholic Church in Cannelburg. Burial will follow in the St. Peter Cemetery in Montgomery.
