Washington became the 163rd site in the country to have a Safe Haven Baby Box placed in our community yesterday. Monica Kelsey, the founder of Safe Haven, was on hand yesterday afternoon for the blessing of the latest location and shared some numbers with the crowd in attendance…

The Safe Haven Box is located at the West End Fire Station in Washington. The site is available for parents who are struggling and feel they have nowhere to go. These boxes are equipped with alarms and climate control, ensuring infant safety until responders arrive. Education is key, with tailored school programs and outreach through platforms like TikTok. Newborns surrendered under the Safe Haven Law find families within 30–45 days.
