Bicknell residents are contemplating the possibility of increased utility rates for the first time since 2004. Back then, a substantial 130% surge in sewer rates occurred due to the construction of the current sewer plant. Mayor Thomas Estabrook stated that discussions revolve around potential water and sewer rate adjustments to ensure the systems’ maintenance. A rate study is in the city’s plans, which will determine if a rate increase is necessary and to what extent. Mayor Estabrook emphasized that the exact increase remains uncertain for now.
