William Oscar Like, 75, of Vincennes, passed away peacefully at his home in Florida with his family by his side on August 4, 2023.

Born February 1948 to Ruby and Buell Like, Willie lived in Vincennes with his four siblings Margaret, Don Allen, Carla, and Thomas. Some of Willie’s fondest childhood memories were traveling with his family on summer trips across the Midwest.

Willie graduated from Lincoln High School in 1966 and attended Vincennes and Indiana University.

He served in the United States Air Force in 1968 to 1972 as communications interspersion. He spent two years of that time on the Greek Island of Crete.

After the Air Force, Willie worked at Crane Naval Surface Warfare Center for 38 years as Head Engineering Technician.

Willie married Glenda Lewis Like on June 5, 1982. They were married for 34 years until her passing in 2016.

Willie’s favorite hobbies were fishing and sports. He was a huge fan of IU Basketball, St Louis Cardinals Baseball, and St Louis Blues Hockey. He could be found watching any and all sports!

He also loved going to his grandson’s baseball games and Spring Training baseball games in Florida.

Willie was a long-time member of the Harmony Society and enjoyed playing cards (Bridge and Euchre).

Another favorite for Willie was being at the beach. He moved to Florida to be closer to family and to be closer to the beach! He enjoyed sitting on the balcony listening to the waves and watching the sunsets.

He is survived by his daughter Lindsay (Like) Poe, son in law Dustin Poe, and his Grandchildren Jackson and Landon Poe of Trinity, Florida.

He is also survived by a sister Margaret Peters of Cape Coral, Florida, brother Thomas Like (Janet) of Morton, Indiana, and companion Joy Zendzian of Vincennes as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Don Allen and Carla Like, and his wife Glenda Like.

A visitation will be held on Friday August 25, 2023 at 2:00pm with a service at 3:00pm at the Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home in Vincennes.

Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life reception at the Harmony Society, 111 North Second Street, Vincennes that evening.
