Constance JoAnn (Connie) McAtee, 85, of Loogootee passed away at Jasper Memorial Hospital on 13 June 2023. She was born September 7, 1937, to Herman and Helen (Thompson) Hagerty. Connie married Glenn McAtee in 1965 and they were married for 58 years. She worked as an assistant in Dr. Baker’s dentist’s office in Odon for 15 years. Connie was a long-time member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Loogootee and served for many years as parish secretary. She loved singing in church choirs at St. Joseph Bramble, St. John Loogootee, Martin County Ecumenical Choir, the Marco Singers, and directed the choir at St. John Catholic Church for many years.
Connie never met a stranger and had a quick wit and dry sense of humor. She was a skilled card player, especially cinch and euchre. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandma, sister, aunt, and friend to many, and she will be greatly missed.
Connie is survived by her husband, Glenn; her children: Randy (Michelle), Krista Bolen, Julie (Dave) Tyson, Rob (Laurel); brother Rick Hagerty; 7 grandchildren, and 1 great granddaughter. She is preceded in death by her parents and her siblings: Francis Earl, Bernard, Lon, Wilma Jean, Dottie, Bobby, Janice Kay, and Betty Lou.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Very Rev. J Kenneth Walker at 10:00 AM Monday June 19, 2023, at St. John The Evangelist Church. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Sunday June 18, 2023, from 1:00 P.M until 4:00 P.M at Blake Funeral Home at 300 Church Street, Loogootee, Indiana and again on Monday from 9:00 A.M until the time of service at St. John the Evangelist Church.
