Broadband service issues were discussed in Pike County. The Indiana Broadband Office is conducting visioning sessions across the state to engage communities and stakeholders in addressing the need for improved service. The latest session took place in Petersburg at the Elmer Buchta Technology Center. The process is funded by federal dollars from the Infrastructure and Investment and Jobs Act, specifically the BEAD program overseen by the National Telecommunications and Information Administration. Over $42.4 billion is allocated to expand high-speed internet nationwide, with Indiana possibly receiving up to a billion dollars. County leaders, economic development representatives, and Indiana Farm Bureau members attended the session. The Indiana Broadband Office will utilize the information gathered to develop a five-year plan for broadband improvement. The tour will continue in Greene County on Friday.
